Mandy Bennett, Teacher in the Red Room (3.5 – 4 year olds): Mandy has a BA in Psychology, M.Ed. and Certification in Early Childhood Special Education. She began teaching for ACPS in 2005, and moved to Fairlington in 2013 as part of the Community Partnership Program. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking, traveling and attending her weekly Zumba class.
Georgina Bramsen, Teacher in the Orange Room (4 year olds): Georgina has a BA in History and attended Law School. She began teaching at Fairlington in 2004, and all three of her children attended Fairlington. Georgina enjoys walking her dog, hiking, reading, and movies.
Lois Brown, Teacher in the Coral Room (3 year olds): Lois has a B.A. in French, worked in the Peace Corps in Morocco, and did graduate and certification work in teaching. She taught high school French in Arlington and began teaching preschool at RCC in 2001 and at Fairlington in 2016. Lois also works at the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. She enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with her nephew’s young family, and traveling to see her 3 children who live out of town.
Michele Conklin, Teacher in the Lilac and Purple Rooms (2 year olds): Michele has a BS in Health Science. She began teaching in 1999 high school followed by middle school, and started teaching preschool in 2011. She also started teaching high school again in 2015! Two of Michele’s children attended. She enjoys watching her kids play soccer, basketball and lacrosse. She likes to craft, read, spend time with family and friends, and enjoys her summers at the beach.
Katie Farris, Occupational Therapist (OT): Katie has a M.S. in Occupational Therapy and over a decade of experience specializing in pediatric OT. Both of her children attended Fairlington. She enjoys time at the beach and will travel the extra mile for excellent cuisine!
Ali Goldwater, Teacher in the Coral Room (3 year olds): Ali has a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education. She began teaching second grade in 2008, and at Fairlington in 2017. Her children attended RCC and Fairlington. Ali enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, exploring DC with her kids, reading and photography.
Alise Gregory, Speech and Language Pathologist: Alise received her MS in Speech Pathology from the University of Mississippi. She has training and experience with Floortime, sensory diets, PROMPT, and the SOS approach to feeding. She is passionate about inclusion and enjoys helping children with special needs find success within the classroom environment and with their peers. Alise enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband and new baby!
Karen Indelicato Joia, FAIR Play Teacher: Karen is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). She was the Youth Director for the Alexandria YMCA, Director of Therapeutic Recreation at the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute and the CTRS for the Goodwin House. Karen began teaching preschool in 2005 at Valley Drive Cooperative Preschool, and in 2012 she began teaching at Fairlington. Karen enjoys the beach, walking, her dog, spending time with family and friends, and being a sports spectator.
Susan Jones, Teacher in the Lilac and Purple Rooms (2 year olds): Susan has a B.A. in French Language and Literature. She began teaching at RCC in the fall of 2016. All four of her children attended RCC, and her youngest child finished her preschool years at Fairlington.
Carol Keller, Director: Carol has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She began as Director at Fairlington in 2011. Prior to that was the Director at a full day childcare facility for 8 years and at Resurrection Children’s Center (RCC) for 18 years. She enjoys exploring restaurants, going for walks with her husband and Timbre, her Alaskan Malamute. Carol has raised 3 daughters who are all adults, 2 of whom work in education and one is an Oncology Nurse.
Jen McLenahan, Teacher in the Orange Room (4 year olds): Jen has a B.S. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. She taught in Arlington Public School from 2002-2005 and started teaching at Fairlington in 2011. Three of her four children attended Fairlington. Jen enjoys reading, cooking, playing soccer and gardening. She also loves attending the many soccer, baseball, wrestling, and basketball games that her children play!
Sozit Mohamed, Teacher in the Green Room (4 year olds): Sozit has an Associates in Marketing Management. She worked as a Flight Attendant, and then began teaching at Fairlington in 2008, and both her boys attended Fairlington. Sozit enjoys baking and taking nature walks.
Maeve OConnor, Teacher in the Yellow Room (3 year olds) and the Yellow 2’s (2 year olds): Maeve has a B.A. in German and Political Science and an M.Ed in Education Policy. She began teaching at Fairlington in 2018. Both her girls attended RCC, where she was also a substitute teacher. Maeve enjoys running, trips to the beach, reading and traveling with her family.
Lara Payne, Teacher in the Red Room (3.5 – 4 year olds): Lara has a Masters and Certification in Early Childhood Special Education. She began teaching in 2008 and moved to Fairlington in 2013 as part of the Community Partnership Program. Both of Lara’s children attended or attend Fairlington, and she enjoys traveling.
Sara Platt, Teacher in the Blue Room (3 year olds): Sara has BA in Sociology and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten in Fairfax County from 2006 – 2011, and began teaching at Fairlington in 2014. Sara’s two sons also attended Fairlington. She enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, exploring restaurants, and reading.
Stephanie Regler, Teacher in the Green Room (4 year olds): Stephanie has a BA in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Elementary Special Education. She taught for ACPS for 9 years before coming to Fairlington in 2015. All three of her children attended Fairlington. Stephanie enjoys running, cooking, and spending time at the beach.
Usha Simha, Teacher in the Yellow Room (3 year olds) and the Yellow 2’s (2 year olds): Usha has a MA in Commerce and Accounting and an Associates in Child Development. She also has many certifications focused on teaching young children and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Usha began teaching at Fairlington in 2000, and both of her children attended Fairlington. She enjoys teaching languages, reading, cooking, gardening and volunteering at her temple. Usha also enjoys walking and hiking with her golden doodle Shaeru!
Lana Sonoda, Administrative Assistant: Lana has a B.A. in Merchandising and Marketing and operated a family childcare business from 1990-2002. She taught at RCC from 2002-2010, then began at Fairlington in 2010. One of Lana’s daughters attended RCC as a child. Two of her children, now grown, are teachers and her son is a Naval LCdr! Lana is a wonderful cook, often whipping up meals for the Fairlington staff, and also recently began her certification to be a Postpartum Doula.
Mindy Thompson, Teacher in the Blue Room (3 year olds): Mindy has a B.A. in Physics and a M.Ed. in Physics Education. She taught high school physics from 2001-2007, and has tutored high school students since 2007. Mindy began teaching at Fairlington in 2014. Her two children attended RCC, and she likes to dance, hike, sew, read and travel.
